Mithun grew up in Kolkata, India in a Catholic family. In the Catholic church, he served as Regional Youth President for 2 states under the Indian Catholic Youth Movement and frequently traveled to rural parts of the states for youth programs. During this time, he also served at the Taize' Community in France for three months in 2006. At the age of 21, he started attending Circular Road Baptist Church (CRBC) in his city. After regular attendance and prayerful considerations, he pronounced a public confession of his faith in June 2013 through baptism. After this, he helped the church start Young People’s Fellowship (YPF) and also became a monthly partner with West Bengal Evangelical Graduates Fellowship (WB EGF) which helped fund college ministry. In October 2013, he was invited to attend a Life Revision Seminar for a weekend by WB EGF. During this seminar, he heard a calling to go back to ministry and received a confirmation in January 2014 after attending Willow Creek’s Global Leadership Summit in Kolkata. Mithun left his job of 7.5 years at HSBC and moved to Chicago in the fall of 2015 to start his undergraduate studies in theology and communications at Moody Bible Institute.

During his time at Moody, he had the opportunity to serve as an after-school tutor in Little India for over two years, and meal server for homeless people at First St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He started attending FBCOP in August 2016 and became a member in January 2017. From October 2017 to September 2018, he served as the Asst. Chair and Secretary of the Spiritual Life & Worship Team, taught adult Sunday school from January 2018 to 2019 and helped start Young Adults Members team in the Summer of 2017. After graduating from MBI in May 2019 with a BA in Communications, Mithun joined the FBCOP staff as Director of Communications & Pastoral Intern. Since October 2021, he has been serving our church family as Assistant Pastor.

In his free time, Mithun can be found biking in Chicago, taking pictures around the city, cooking ethnic food and hosting guests, reading books for long hours in a public library, solving Sudoku puzzles, or simply listening to a friend over a cup of warm coffee or a long walk.
