Dr. Lawrence B. Walker is a dynamic preacher, visionary leader, scholar and organizational strategist that is committed to transforming people, institutions, and communities through faith, leadership, and service.

He serves as the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Oak park, providing spiritual and organizational leadership with a vision for cultivating a thriving, multigenerational and multicultural congregation rooted in biblical truth, community engagement, and meaningful service.

A trusted expositor and clear communicator, Dr. Walker combines biblical scholarship, cultural awareness, and practical application in his preaching and teaching. His ministry reflects a conviction that the church must proclaim the Gospel while demonstrating it through justice, compassion, service and advocacy, particularly for those who feel overlooked or unheard.

Beyond the pulpit, Dr. Walker speaks regularly in churches, corporate training environments, academic institutions and leadership settings. His ability to communicate across sacred and secular spaces allows him to engage diverse audiences on leadership, organizational culture, personal development and institutional change.

An experienced corporate leader and consultant, Dr. Walker brings expertise in business, leadership, strategic planning and change management to churches, corporations, nonprofits and community organizations.

Dr. Walker earned both a Master of Arts in Leadership and a Doctorate in Ministry (DMin.) in Preaching from Northern Seminary. His hunger for the Word of God along with his passion for teaching and preaching are evidence that he has committed himself to serving God’s people.

Dr. Walker and the lovely, Mrs. Janeen Walker reside in Chicago. They are the proud parents of four children, Lauryn, Kennedy, Brynn and Kamryn.
